According to a report done by the Wall Street Journal earlier today, Nintendo is planning on continuing to make mobile games inspired by some of our favorite titles. One of Nintendo’s most loved and respected series is next to receive the mobile game treatment: The Legend of Zelda.
However, we still have some time to wait before the game will be released. In the meantime, mobile gamers have the Animal Crossing mobile game to look forward to. The mobile version of the beloved Animal Crossing series is expected to come out sometime later this year. Sources say that the Legend of Zelda mobile iteration will release sometime after that, so hopefully sometime next year. Nintendo is working closely with the Tokyo-based DeNA Co for both of their upcoming mobile titles.
Unfortunately, that is all we seem to know about the Zelda mobile game at the moment. With the handful of mobile titles that Nintendo has released in the past couple years like Pokemon GO!, Super Mario Run, and Fire Emblem Heroes, one cannot help but wonder if it will be something similar to one of these titles or if it will be something completely different. The next question would be: will it be free to play?
Despite Super Mario Run’s $10 price point and bigger fan base, the free to play Fire Emblem Heroes actually brings in more money with its in-game transactions than the latter. So, who knows what the mobile Zelda game might look like? However, with the wild success of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it will not come as a surprise to anyone if the mobile game does incredibly well also.
