This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information.

Destiny 2 is scheduled to release on September 8th for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.  As of right now, the same is being said for the Destiny 2 PC release date, but multiple sources are saying that won’t be the case.  After further speculation on the matter, Luke Smith, the Destiny 2 director, confirmed the speculation:

“We’re not committed to a PC date yet, but at Bungie, we’re totally committed to making a PC build as great as we can,” Smith said. “Our partnership with Blizzard and being on Battle.net, we want to make sure that this version of the game has the time it needs to bake in the oven so it’s a delicious piece of bread when it comes out.”  – Luke Smith, Director of Destiny 2.

I get it, PC gamers that have the rig to power a game like Destiny 2 are few and far between so it’s release might be lower on the priority list. However, it seems like PC gamers continuously get the shaft nowadays with big third party releases.  One example is the recent launch of Prey.  Prey on PS4 and Xbox One we met with relatively positive reviews, while not perfect.  However, it’s PC counterpart was riddled with game breaking bugs causing it to be panned by critics.  Batman Arkham Knight’s PC release was so bad that it was removed from purchase shortly after release until the bugs were fixed.

Hopefully, Luke Smith’s bread-baking analogy means the loaf the is the PC version of Destiny will be a savory experience and not just putting budget-friendly white bread in a gourmet wrapper.  If Destiny 2’s PC release will see a delay to ensure quality, PC gamers should be in for a treat upon its release.  When PC games are built right out of the gate, they make for some visual experiences a console owner can only dream of.  For all things Destiny 2 PC, stay tuned to The Nerd Stash.
