If you’ve read the news recently, you’re likely aware of the horrific attacks that took place at a music concert in Manchester, England earlier this week. In the wake of that attack, Bandai Namco has pushed back the release of Get Even one month.
The team behind the product felt that the upcoming psychological thriller featured subject matter that was inappropriate to be released at this point and time. A company representative reached out with a statement regarding Get Even’s release.
“Given recent events and out of respect we have decided to postpone the commercial release of Get Even to June 23rd. We would like to express our deepest condolences to everyone concerned.”
The game has been highly anticipated ever since it was announced in 2014, as it’s anxiety inducing first person perspective promises to be a unique and thrilling experience. The story so far revolves around an unnamed man who wakes up in an abandoned and run-down house with no memory of how he got there.
Armed with only a phone and a gun, the amnesiac must help save a young girl from an unknown enemy threatening to hurt them both. The end goal is to escape with their lives, and possibly find out who wants to kill them.
The game will be the polish developer The Farm 51’s first real mainstream game, though they did receive some spotlight for their work on Painkiller: Hell & Damnation back in 2013. They also contributed to the first installment in the now widely popular Witcher series.
Get Even‘s exact release date was originally scheduled for May 26th on the PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
