Nintendo has announced on X (formerly Twitter) that it is holding two showcases side-by-side on August 27, 2024, one of which is an Indie World Showcase, and the other is a Partner Showcase. Both events will be available on the Nintendo YouTube channel, and the live streams of both events will kick off at 16:00 CEST / 10 am EST / 7 am PST.
The Japanese gaming giant also confirmed that the complete live stream which includes both the Nintendo Indie World and the Partner Showcase on August 27, 2024, will come to around 40 minutes in total. The event is strictly about games, and Nintendo was adamant to keep the hype in check by confirming on X, and on YouTube, that there will be no news on the Nintendo Switch successor during the event.
Leaks and rumors about the upcoming console have been running rampant with nothing being completely confirmed. The hype for Nintendo’s new console is why the company decided to let people know an announcement isn’t coming yet, to make sure fans weren’t disappointed.
The Nintendo Switch came out way back in 2017 and is in dire need of a refresh. But since its sales numbers are still doing just fine, Nintendo is taking its sweet time working on the successor. Rumors and leaks from reliable sources have suggested that the upcoming console will be as powerful as a PlayStation 4 Pro, and will also be a handheld device with a docking functionality, similar to the original Switch.
Nintendo had a 22-minute-long Indie World Showcase back in April 2024 that showed games like SteamWorld Heist II and TMNT Splintered Fate. The most recent one was a Direct Showcase that took place in June 2024 and was around 40 minutes long and showed Nintendo World Championships, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Funko Future, and Mario & Luigi Brothership, among others.
