Horror Fans Are Off the Hook as Behaviour Interactive Acquires Darkest Dungeon Dev

Hooked on a feeling of dread

Fighting to keep a lamp lit and everyone alive is familiar territory for Darkest Dungeon fans. Dead by Daylight features a similar fight against the dark. Behaviour Interactive has now acquired Red Hook Studios, bringing this top-tier roguelike developer into the Fog. Though it’s too early to say for sure how this other series and its bleak canon might filter into The Entity’s Realm, we can make some educated guesses, thanks to Behaviour’s track record working with other notable franchises such as Saw and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Darkest Dungeon and DbD: A Match Made in Shadow

In the wake of Red Hook’s acquisition by Behaviour, it feels inevitable that Darkest Dungeon will receive its own DbD chapter, but there are no guarantees. Behaviour Interactive has done cosmetic-only collaborations before, such as the musical crossovers with SlipKnot and Iron Maiden, but that’s likely not the course the dev will take here. Though getting Highwayman, Leper, and Jester cosmetics would be great, the odds look good for actual characters stepping into the Fog. After surviving the Sprawl and the Tangle, The Entity’s Realm might not look so bad.

Dead by Daylight Should Kill-Switch Skull Merchant, Not Nerf Her

The Dreaming General and other stationary bosses might not be practical, but it’s easy to imagine the Shambler preying on survivors. Behaviour’s expanded team and budget has given life to unconventional killers like Chucky and Dredge, so now might be the perfect time for Darkest Dungeon‘s cosmic horrors to shine. According to its announcement post on X, Behaviour looks forward to welcoming Red Hook “as a fully independent studio under the Behaviour banner,” so Darkest Dungeon itself should continue its current, upward trajectory as well. Grab a lantern and tonic. It’s about to get darker.
