Black Ops 6 is on the horizon, and it might be the last Call of Duty game that launches on last-gen consoles. The news of removing two gameplay features for Black Ops 6 on PS4 and Xbox One is out there, and while it won’t directly impact your in-game experience, it limits you from playing with your friends and reviewing your performance in the previous matches.
According to Charlie Intel, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6will not feature the Split-Screen mode on PS4 and Xbox One. This might be frustrating news for those who like playing games offline/online with their friends on the couch.

Now removing the Split-Screen isn’t what hurts the most for the last-gen console users, as Black Ops 6 also won’t allow PS4 and Xbox One players to access the Theatre Mode. This returning feature is there for players to save and share the highlights of their gameplay with others, which comes very handy if you want to revisit that one funny/action moment you had with your friends.
These two features do not affect your in-game experience of Black Ops 6 at all. However, it is a way of saying goodbye to the last-gen consoles by Call of Duty. This happened with Black Ops III the last time a limited CoD was released for the last-gen consoles when PS3 and Xbox 360 players could not access DLC maps and certain game modes.
As of right now, since Warzone is still available to play on PS4 and Xbox One, the support for the last-gen consoles by Call of Duty might continue throughout 2024. Additionally, if Call of Duty 2025 is another Black Ops game in the MW2/MW3 fashion, then the last-gen consoles might get another chance to play CoD; last chance, probably.
