Sony has announced that both LittleBigPlanet 3 and all of its available DLC are being permanently delisted from the PlayStation Store. The game and all DLC for the whole franchise are leaving the Sony Store on October 31.

This is another case that reiterates why physical games are superior to digital purchases when it comes to the user. No one will be able to get the game or its expansions once October ends, but luckily, those who already own the digital version of the game will continue to own it for the foreseeable future, or until Sony wants. Those who own the game and want to get the DLC will be able to buy it without the PlayStation Store listing.

Media Molecule, the creator of the LittleBigPlanet games took to X (Formerly Twitter) and talked about how the game shared the studio and will always remain an important part of its legacy. LittleBigPlanet 3 came out on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 back in 2014 and wasn’t made by Media Molecule, but Sumo Digital.

It is still playable if you are subscribed to the Extra or Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus through the Game Catalog. But LittleBigPlanet 3 will also be removed from the subscription service on October 15, a few weeks before being delisted from the PlayStation Store itself.

The studio has gone through major restructuring in the last few years which has resulted in an unknown number of layoffs and also made the live service elements of its games like Dreams come to an end. This does not mean that the studio is going under like so many we’ve seen in the past. Although the co-founder of Media Molecule, Mark Healey, left the company last year, he was replaced by John Beech, and the team is currently working on a new unannounced IP.
