After surviving the bloodthirsty monster at the Northern Border Front, your group needs to return to the capital as soon as possible. Since you cannot use the official route, you need to take another path through the mine. Besides encountering soldiers, you must also face numerous monsters. The final boss that you have to face in this Metaphor: Refantazio dungeon is a bird-like human called Homo Fulquilo. Despite being an early-game boss, you can defeat your whole team if you do not use the correct strategy.
Metaphor: Refantazio Homo Fulquilo Boss Fight Guide
Homo Fulquilo is a powerful boss who can deal fire damage to your team using Gabot magic. This will inflict an AoE fire attack that can take down your protagonist since his Archetype is Seeker, which is weak against this element. You can mitigate this problem by placing him in the back row and ordering him to guard himself.
The better strategy is to change your protagonist Archetype into a Mage so he won’t be weak against fire. Picking this class will also allow you to use the Blizz magic that can inflict ice on the enemy.
Of course, the downside is that you won’t have any healing or other supportive magic that the Seeker Archetype has. If you feel that having another Mage on your team is unwise since they’re pretty fragile, you can equip the Warrior class instead because it resists Bot and Gabot magic.
Here is the strategy I recommend to beat Homo Fulquilo in Metaphor: Refantazio:
- Protagonist (Mage): Blizz
- Leon (Warrior): Ice Chunk or Diagonal Slash
- Grius (Mage): Blizz
Besides using Blizz to attack this monster, you can also purchase Ice Chunk from the peddler outside the boss arena. It’s quite cheap and can deal 100 points of ice damage to your enemy. I suggest ordering Leon to continuously throw this item until you run out, and then you can use Diagonal Slash.
Homo Fulquilo’s strongest attack is the Bonfire of Vanities. The boss will usually charge up during its previous turn, and this move will only target those in the front row. I recommend placing all of your units in the back row to avoid this attack. After the monster finishes attacking, you can move your characters back to the front row so you can inflict full damage.
If you fully explore the dungeon before this boss arena, you have a chance to obtain a Corrosive Acid item. You can use this consumable to reduce the enemy’s defense for three turns. Here is the list of rewards you get by beating the Homo Fulquilo boss fight:
- EXP x200
- A-EXP x125
- MAG x900
- Gold x1,000
- Magla Potion x1
