Capcom announced the first open beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds, so if you’re itching to get your hands on the game, now is your chance ahead of its early 2025 release date. If you’re subscribed to PlayStation Plus, you can get some extra playtime in. The open beta will be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and Steam as well.
Those who are using PS+ will get early access to the open beta, but you won’t need a PlayStation Plus membership for the second stage of the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta. The same goes for Xbox, you will not even need to have Game Pass Core.
The open beta of Monster Hunter Wilds will be quite extensive, as it will have the character creator, cross-play between all platforms, a trial of the main story, and the Doshaguma Hunt as well. If you do participate in the open beta, you can then carry over your character creation data — and possibly progression as well — into the full version of the game.
The story trailer starts at the beginning of the game, so you’ll be able to watch the opening cutscene and play the Chatacabra hunt. Of course, it will have a basic tutorial to get you up to speed. As for the objective of the Doshaguma Hunt, you will have to defeat the alpha of the Doshaguma pack while exploring the locale. You will be able to switch between two different weapon types mid-combat as well.
The Monster Hunter Wilds open beta starts on October 31, 8 PM PT, and will end on November 3, 7 PM PT on all platforms. Those who are subscribed to PlayStation Plus can start playing on October 28, 8 PM PT until October 30, 8 PM PT. The full game comes out on February 28, 2025, on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC.
