Besides the Lighthouse, you will also often visit the Crossroads, which connects various locations through the Fade. Although this area is mostly safe, there is a dark corruption that is brewing underneath. The Caretaker has asked you to resolve this issue and prevent the two elven gods from gaining a foothold. After defeating three powerful bosses in the Heart of Corruption quest, you can eventually face the source of the Blight within the Crossroads. The Revenant Dragon is not an easy boss in Dragon Age: The Veilguard and you must be prepared to survive this deadly encounter.
How To Complete Heart of Corruption Quest
You can face the Revenant Dragon boss by completing the Heart of Corruption side quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This mission consists of facing Solas’ regrets that have manifested into powerful monsters. You also need to close the tear in the Fade and stop more corruption from spawning.
They all require you to complete the Gate missions, where you have to defeat three elven gods’ champions to access the areas. All of them are powerful, but you can challenge them in this order:
The Betrayal of Felassan is the easiest boss out of the three since it is only at Level 32, while the Fall of the Protector has Level 42. All of them are resistant to Ice magic, but you can use Necrotic abilities to weaken them. Once you have obtained their essence, you can return to the main island, where you can insert them into the Blight gate.
How To Beat Revenant Dragon Boss in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
The Revenant Dragon is a Level 50 boss who is weak against Fire and resistant to Ice. I suggest bringing Davrin and Taash as your allies into this battle. Besides using Fire attacks, Davrin can taunt the boss and take attention away from you. Taash can grant you temporary invulnerability, increasing your chance of survival.
At the start of the fight, there will be several Blight cysts that grow on the arena. You should destroy them all quickly. The main gimmick in this fight is that the boss can change the elements it uses. It will start with Fire, and then Ice, and finally Lightning.
If you have already completed the Regrets of the Dread Wolf quest, you can summon Mythal to help you in this battle. She will show up as a dragon and inflict significant damage on the Revenant Dragon.
You should only use heavy attack to quickly destroy the beefy barrier that protects the boss’ HP. Its move set is quite similar to other dragons. It can spit out a long breath attack you can dodge by moving closer to the boss. However, you must also be careful when nearby since the Revenant Dragon can use melee attacks.
Sometimes, the monster will fly into the air before slamming its body into the ground, causing a large AoE attack. Considering how often the dragon likes to fly around, having a strong ranged weapon is important if you want to inflict decent damage consistently.
Defeating the Revenant Dragon will grant you a unique ring called The Last Resort. It will boost your damage whenever you use an offensive ability and reduce your resistance by 20 percent. The effect will reset the next time you block or dodge.
