With all the excitement over the Batman v Superman trailer, it would be easy to overlook the trailer for ‘Gods and Monsters’.

The latest entry into DC’s awesome collection of animated movies, ‘Gods and Monsters’ is the work of Bruce Timm.

Yes, that Bruce Timm. The man behind the Batman, Superman and Justice League cartoons. Among many others

‘Gods and Monsters’ is an Elseworlds story. This means that you shouldn’t expect an adventure involving the familiar Justice League. For a start, Batman is a vampiric Kirk Langstrom, Wonder Woman is from Apokolips and Superman is General Zod’s son.

When several high profile scientists are murdered, Superman’s fingerprint is found at the scene. Suddenly finding themselves suspected of murder, the league must hurry to clear their name as the whole world turns against them.

This definitely looks to be to be a notable entry into DC’s animated movie line up. Not least because this one doesn’t have the familiar status quo of movies set in the traditional DC universe.

It’s clearly occured to DC that viewers might need a little bit of easing into the ‘God and Monsters’ universe. Or maybe they want to snag a few extra comic sales. Either way, July will see the digital release of a tie in comic. This comic will detail the altered origins of DC’s trinity and explain of the Justice League was formed.

‘No, that’s not ketchup on my chin. Thanks for asking though.’

One thing’s for sure; ‘Gods and Monsters’ will make a nice change for those who are tired of vanilla DC universe.
