Writer Chris Lewis has announced his fourth Kickstarter, and this time it will be for a comic book. When a construction worker gets caught up in a science-gone-wrong event at the local community college, Mitch Hammer is born.

While not much is known regarding the manly construction workers powers, the tagline for the first issue reveals what fans have in store for them.

“A manly construction worker and a genius biology student vs. mad professor-turned-giant mutant caterpillar – er, manerpillar.”

Alongside his best buddy Jorge and a brilliant graduate student Katie, it’s up to Mitch to save the students from science, and the manerpillar. Described by the author as a cross between 80s monster flicks and the recent comic Shirtless Bear Fighter, Mitch Hammer looks to be a punch filled romp, as well as an obscurely good time.

Chris Lewis seems to have the formula down regarding comics on Kickstarter. The current campaign for Mitch Hammer #1 will only cost backers $1 to get the first issues. After that, there are other tiers that include bonus content, like a pinup or XXL print depending, as well as bundles for his previous works (Drones, Mixmancer, and Karma Police 1-4).

Lewis didn’t make the book alone though, as he was joined by talented Chilean artist Fernando Pinto and old school colorist K.Michael Russel (Judge Dredd, Glitterbomb) to help bring Mitch Hammer to life. Editor Dan Hill also helps make sure that everything will be properly formatted and grammatically correct, with Chris Kosek in charge of designing a manley cover that’s going to knock your socks off.

Mitch Hammer #1 is already finished, simply needing to reach its Kickstarter goal to be released. Currently, it sits at $819 pledged of $1,200 goal with 88 backers. If you are interested in backing the comic, there’s still plenty of time, with 27 days left to go.
