Jay-Z‘s sister-in-law, Solange Knowles, is springing into action following the allegations levied against him. Over the weekend, the rapper was accused, alongside his pal Diddy of raping a 13-year-old. The anonymous plaintiff, in a civil lawsuit, claimed the alleged assault took place in 2000 at an after-party for the MTV Music Video Awards. Jay-Z has since denied the allegations and continues to move on as though unbothered by the scandal. However, sources say Solange’s entire focus is on her sister, Beyonce.
Close insiders tell Page Six that the Binz singer first thought about her elder sister once the bombshell news dropped. “Solange reached out to Beyoncé the moment she heard about the allegations,” the source explained. With the lawsuit still in its early stages, no steps have been taken by Jay-Z or the parties affected. However, the informant noted that Solange is “supporting” whatever Beyoncé chooses to do about her husband’s allegations.
“Solange let Beyoncé know she’s there for her sister and is available to talk anytime she needs.”
It is unclear if Solange has reached out personally to Jay-Z, but the in-laws have been known not to have a great relationship. 10 years ago, the infamous elevator fight between them happened.
A Look At Jay-Z and Solange’s Tumultuous Relationship
The incident happened in May 2014 following attendance at the Met Gala after-party. Surveillance footage from The Standard, High Line in New York City showed Solange viciously attacking her brother-in-law in an elevator while Beyonce watched. Neither of the trio ever revealed what caused the fight. However, they released a joint statement to assure fans their family is good.
“The most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public.”
The music mogul appeared to touch on the scandal in the song Kill JAY-Z from his 2017 album, 4:44. “You egged Solange on / Knowin’ all along, all you had to say you was wrong,” he rapped. He further discussed the state of their relationship in an interview, admitting that they have put it in the past.
“We’ve always had a great relationship. … We had one disagreement, ever. Before and after, we’ve been cool,” Jay-Z said about Solange, per People. “She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister, not my sister-in-law. My sister. Period.”
