This name comes according to the latest leaked firmware. While there have been plenty of leaks regarding features for the phone, all of them have referred to it as the iPhone 8. But if the latest leak is to be believed, it will be called the iPhone X instead.
In the leaked firmware, iOS developer Steven Troughton Smith has discovered multiple references to the iPhone X. The references are linked directly to the D22 codename with a bezel-less display. Alongside that, the developer found separate iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus references.
This other information indicates that Apple likely isn’t planning to continue its use of the iPhone S brand, but instead will move onto the iPhone 8. A handful of different iPhone names have been circulating throughout the rumor mill to go alongside with iPhone 8, including iPhone Edition and iPhone Pros.
iOS 11 will be the final firmware update, but things could always change before the iPhone X will be released and available in stores later this week, after the Apple press event on Tuesday.
Alongside this, there is also the talking point of price, as rumors have speculated that the phone could cost around $1,000. What exactly will the phone hold over other iPhone’s that elicits such a high price point? Your guess is as good as mine.
