Sony Has Finally Brought Killzone Back! But There’s a Catch…

You win some, you lose… much

This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

If you’re a Killzone fan, this is probably the best news you’ve heard for the franchise this decade. Sony is bringing back Killzone— only, it won’t be in a Killzone game, instead, it will be a crossover event for Helldivers 2, another Sony-owned game. Helldivers 2 has just released its Superstore bundle called “Helldivers 2 x Killzone 2.”

So to clarify, Killzone will only appear as a set of cosmetics and items in a crossover for Helldivers 2 and won’t be free. You’ll have to purchase the Killzone cosmetics in Helldivers 2 using Super Credits or the game’s premium currency. For the record, you can farm Super Credits in-game, but it’s going to take too long for you to grind it out without forking out real money.

For those interested, here are the Killzone 2 items and their corresponding Super Credit prices in Helldivers 2. The Killzone cosmetics will last for five days before they’re replaced with other Superstore items on rotation:

Cosmetic NameSuper Credit Price
StA-51 Assault Rifle615
AC-1 Dutiful armor500
AC-1 Dutiful helmet310
Strength in Our Arms cape310
Assault Infantry insignia150
Strength in Our Arms player card90

All in all, it’s going to cost you 1,975 to purchase all of it. If you have no Super Credits available, you’ll have to avail of the 2,100 Super Credits bundle which costs more or less $20 in the in-game Superstore.

Only the Assault Rifle and the Armor piece are going to have gameplay or statistically-altering effects, others are merely cosmetic.

Players Found the Prices Undemocratic

For many, however, the prices are a little too steep, especially for Helldivers 2 standards. Most of the previous Superstore cosmetics typically only cost less than 300 Super Credits even for bulky pieces like the armor.

Dawg, what are these prices. One armor set costs the same as half of a warbond 💀 pic.twitter.com/wfvs1eOF87

Some deem the prices as outrageous, while others still defend it by saying it’s still “cheaper than Fortnite” cosmetics. It’s worth pointing out that the crossover is a special event, which could explain the prices. As for Killzone coming back in its own game, the chances are slim, sadly.
