Now’s the Best Time to Play Stalker 2 Again, If Your Gaming Device Can Take the Beating

Cheekier and breekier than ever

Stalker 2 had a rough launch which is par for the course for Eurojank games, but now, the devs are slowly and surely fixing the game. The most recent round of fixes involved a significant improvement for the A-Life 2.0 system, which arguably gave the Stalker games its signature emergent gameplay. However, there’s a catch because the improvements might take their toll on your computer or console.

While Stalker 2 has partially fixed its A-Life 2.0 system, the cost is a whopping 110 GB of storage space needed for the update. The update, namely Patch 1.1, will come with a long list of overhauls and promised content apart from the A-Life 2.0 fix. It’s worth noting that the 110 GB worth of updates is going to be overwriting the game files, so it’s not like the game’s already heavy 150 GB requirement will get doubled.

However, some players have already started experimenting with how much the A-Life 2.0 has improved and the results are promising. A YouTube video for Stalker 2 update 1.1 demonstrated a timelapse where the game generated several localized firefights between the game’s NPC factions.

So you can expect Stalker 2‘s The Zone to feel more alive and organic now. One thing to note is that the increased NPC activities and in-game model grouping might impact the performance. Stalker 2 is already quite demanding and you can likely expect that the A-Life 2.0 improvements will make the game somewhat more taxing on your system.

Get Your PC and Console Ready for More Combat

The game’s framerate conspicuously drops whenever you enter combat, after all. With more combat all around, Stalker 2 might just put more demand on processing and rendering power.

Still, the expected performance hits are a small price to pay for Stalker 2 finally getting its definitive feature. Previously, the devs have admitted that while A-Life 2.0 is in the game upon release, it wasn’t working as intended.

A-Life 2.0 is now getting the attention it needs, though the Patch 1.1 fix is only a partial improvement for the A-Life 2.0. GSC Game World has stated that they’re working hard on prioritizing A-Life 2.0 and you can expect more improvements to the system in future updates and patches.
