Tango Games Is Back With a New Name & Is Starting Work On New Projects

The music hasn’t stopped yet.

Tango Gameworks, the studio behind titles like Hi-Fi Rush, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and The Evil Within, has officially rebranded as Tango Gameworks Inc. following its acquisition by Krafton, the publisher known for PUBG and Dark and Darker, to name a few. This is a major turning point for the studio, which, after facing closure earlier this year, made it out alive by the skin of its teeth.

In May 2024, Tango Gameworks announced its shutdown under Microsoft, leaving the future of the studio and its IPs uncertain. However, in August, Krafton stepped in to acquire the studio, saving it from dissolution. The acquisition not only preserved Tango Gameworks but also secured the Hi-Fi Rush IP. Unfortunately, the same can not be said about all the other IPs under the Tango umbrella, which won’t be coming back anytime soon.

Krafton expressed that it doesn’t just want to purchase studios that make it a lot of money, but also teams that can make unique products and are creative. If anything, Tango has shown that it isn’t afraid of stepping out of its wheelhouse and trying something new, no matter how odd it may seem. Hi-Fi Rush was such a massive departure from its horror series The Evil Within.

Krafton said that the publisher will continue to collaborate with Xbox and ZeniMax, which will allow the team to work with those they are familiar with while they develop the Hi-Fi Rush IP and make new projects in the future.

The announcement of the rebranding came via Tango Gameworks Inc.’s first social media post since the shutdown.

Tango Gameworks has been reborn as Tango Gameworks Inc., proudly joining Krafton Inc.
We’re excited to continue crafting games that bring joy to the players all around the world.
Thank you for the continued support as we embark on a new journey.

While the studio’s next project remains a mystery, the return of Tango Gameworks Inc. along with the support of Krafton to make unique games and progress the Hi-Fi Rush IP, this isn’t the last time we’ll be jumping into Chai’s shoes and shredding electric guitars as we mow down hoards of musically charged enemies.
