Despite having plenty of units on the market, like PS VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift, Virtual Reality as a whole still has a long way to go. Secret Location, a pioneering VR and technology studio, will be doing its part to add to the growing industry after revealing their latest technology update to their first-of-a-kind, adaptable publishing platform Vusr.

The white-label distribution platform’s update will make it much easier for companies to publish, distribute, and monetize 360-degree video and other Virtual Reality content on any headsets. Secret Location President and Founder James Milward addressed the update and its importance in a recent press release.

“Allowing publishers to incorporate real-time rendered VR and AR content, and go beyond just 360 video, opens up endless possibilities,” said Milward. “Removing barriers and simplifying distribution is going to accelerate the amount and quality of content we’re seeing in the industry, which is really what we need in order to grow it.”

The Toronto based tech company hopes to use this technology to address the issue of fragmentation in the Virtual Reality industry currently.  Secret Location Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder Ryan Andal reiterated that without centralized efforts to consolidate, creators and publishers will be left with no means to grow an audience and monetize their content.

“Vusr is the first VR content management platform to develop and release the tech necessary to support room-scale content,” said Andal. “By doing so, we can confidently say our solution is leading the way to help these visionary creators actually reach an audience.”
