In Southern California, the raging wildfires continue to wreak havoc upon homes, neighbourhoods, and the local wildlife. So far, reportedly 10 people have been pronounced dead, more than 10,000 buildings have been devastated by the flames, over 130,000 locals have had to flee their homes, and 200,000 more residents have been issued with an evacuation warning. Due to the nature of where the catastrophe has occurred, many celebrities have lost their homes, including Paris Hilton, James Woods, Mel Gibson, Adam Brody, Anthony Hopkins, and Leighton Meester. Miraculously, however, Hollywood legends Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg’s homes have been spared from the blazing inferno.

In footage obtained by TMZ, the two lavish properties remain intact as smoke and ash billows around them. Hanks’ $26 million cliffside mansion has survived the ongoing devastation below, and Spielberg’s expansive wooded estate, situated above Hanks’ residence, remains untouched as well.

It’s safe to say that the Hollywood duo are incredibly lucky to have escaped the devastation that is laying waste to Pacific Palisades right now. Of course, not only are the pair close friends, but they are frequent collaborators who have worked on numerous award-winning films together. From 1998’s multi-Oscar-winning war epic Saving Private Ryan to 2003’s biopic Catch Me If You Can to 2004’s comedy drama The Terminal, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg have worked together on numerous occasions, resulting in many prestigious awards and iconic movies over the years.

LA firefighters have even had to call for reinforcements to help them battle the ongoing inferno. Meanwhile, other celebrities impacted by the crises are fleeing their homes in droves. Thankfully, however, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are safe and sound as their residences are unharmed.
