To nobody’s surprise, Elon Musk has reportedly admitted cheating in video games, notably Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4. His admission comes after waves of accusations from several gaming communities. Some gamers and experts threw in their own pieces of evidence and telltale signs that Elon Musk is cheating or boosting his game accounts to “become” a top player in the leaderboards. Musk, however, has justifications for why he did it.
Apparently, Elon Musk himself had a private Twitter/X chat with an obscure YouTuber named NikoWrex over the weekend or earlier. NikoWrex then leaked the conversation in a YouTube video, complete with the details of Elon Musk’s admission that he cheated in Path of Exile 2.
In Elon Musk’s own words, he never claimed full credit for leveling his Hardcore characters in Path of Exile 2. Furthermore, Musk also claimed that it’s impossible to reach the top of the leaderboards or ladder in games like Path of Exile 2 or Diablo 4 without cheating, implying that the top players cheated like he did (paid for an account or a third-party leveling boost).
Additionally, Elon Musk also claimed that gamers in Asia cheat on their games so it would be impossible to keep up with them in video games if he doesn’t cheat as well. Here’s the full video if you want NikoWrex’s explanation:
Hence, Elon Musk did cheat and took credit for other players’ hard work, if NikoWrex’s testimony and leak is anything to go by. Whether there’s an ounce of truth in Musk’s suggestion that all top players cheat in Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4 or not is highly debatable, considering that most top players stream their progress 24/7.
It’s worth noting that despite cheating, Elon Musk failed to reach the top in Path of Exile 2. His perma-death character in Path of Exile 2 died recently though he has several other characters that could still compete.
