The Amazon Echo Show has dropped its price by $30 recently, from its original asking price of $230 to the current cost of $200. The price drop can likely be attributed to the backlash the company has been facing regarding the product’s removal of the ability to stream YouTube videos.

This anger is indicated in many of the recent negative reviews for the Amazon Echo Show on its site. One Verified Purchaser, who originally gave the product five stars, updated their review with the following statement in late September.

โ€œYouTube is NOT supported anymore on the Echo Show AHHHHHHHHH! I didn’t really use YouTube much, but if you like to watch music videos, cooking lessons, etc or just free music in general you can’t anymore.โ€

This review is on the tamer side of most of the negative ones, who all voice their displeasure with the change. Google removed the video streaming service from the Amazon Echo Show late last month, citing the product violated its terms of service by providing a broken user experience.

If the anti-echo sediments continue for Amazon, things donโ€™t look good for other Amazon Echo products, with the Echo Spot costing a pricy $130, despite having a smaller screen. It should be interesting to see if things die down before the release of the Echo Plus and the next Gen Echo as well.

The most interesting part about the entire thing is that this adds fuel to the fiery competition between Amazon (Echo) and Google (Youtube), as each looks to corner the market on the artificial intelligence ecosystem. It doesnโ€™t seem like Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is all too worried though, as he has the partnership with Microsoft to help him contend with Google and Apple.
