Tasked with finding a cure to a mysterious outbreak, you and up to four players, must navigate your way through a zombie-infested desert aboard your very own train. How to Get Cash Quickly in Dead Rails
There are a couple of different ways to obtain money quickly. We’ll show you both methods down below, as well as a few general starter tips to begin your railroad adventure on the best foot.
General Starter Tips
- When you first start a game, sell the Gold Bar on the table in the Trading Post to get $50.
- Focus on buying fuel at the beginning of the game. We recommend not buying a gun as the starting weapons aren’t very good. Instead, we recommend saving up your money for the Rifle, which is the best gun in the game. Not only does it one-shot zombies if you shoot them in the head, but you can also use them for robbing a bank, which is a great way to make money fast.
- When you kill a zombie or an animal like a horse, you can use their bodies as fuel. We didn’t intentionally kill any horses, but we did run one over by accident using our train! This will save you a lot of money.
- Remember to loot buildings for Silver Plates, Wood Paintings, and Stone Statues as you can sell them or use them as fuel as well. To transport these valuable items, you can weld them to your train. Also, keep your eyes peeled for any Ammo, as this is important to collect, especially if you’re planning on using any guns in the game.
Robbing a Bank Method
Raiding a Bank is a super effective way of making money in Dead Rails, but you can only do this if you have a Rifle. Thing is, much like everything else in the game, Bank Robbery events are randomly generated. If you do come across a town with a Bank with a large safe inside, you’ll encounter a group of zombies with top hats, which you’ll need to defeat to obtain the safe code. Once you have the safe code, input it into the safe, and you’ll be able to open it, giving you a nice pay check. Alternatively, you can purchase Dynamite to blow open the large safe for $25 from the General Store.
Cowboy Events Event
These events are randomly generated and they essentially spawn a group of 1-3 cowboys with horses. Using a weapon, like a pistol, rifle, or your axe, kill the cowboys and their horses. Use the horses for fuel, and then place the bodies of the cowboys in your sack. Head back to the Sheriff and you can sell each cowboy for $35 a pop.
