Fellowship Combines WoW Dungeoneering with Wayfinder Classes, and I’m In For It

The best of many worlds

The moment I saw Fellowship, my mind instantly thought about WoW and Wayfinder. This upcoming dungeon-crawler combines MMO dungeoneering with some MOBA elements and even brings colorful classes on a new take of the “holy trinity” composition we see for group content in certain games. After watching the gameplay reveal, this is the game I’m most eager to play during Steam Next Fest, which, fortunately, isn’t far away now. So, if you want some dungeon crawling with friends and using unique classes that are tailored to different playstyles, you should keep this game on your radar.

Fellowship Launches Its Public Playtest From February 25 to March 3

Fellowship | Steam Next Fest Overview Trailer

As part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest, Fellowship will host its public playtest from February 25 at 10 AM PT to March 3 at 10 AM PT. In this MODA (multiplayer online dungeon adventure), you can team up with three players to tackle challenging bosses. While this game already had a closed alpha playtest, this public playtest is a huge deal for Chief Rebel, the game’s studio.

Having a public playtest is a huge milestone for us, but also in a way it’s just the beginning — we can’t wait for you all to jump in this new playtest!

Axel Lindberg, Chief Rebel’s CEO

During the playtest, players will be able to pick between two Tanks, two DPS, and two Healers to take to their dungeon runs. Beyond that, players can expect new additions that weren’t part of the closed alpha test, such as a unique gem and item transmutation system, world and party chat, new gear and mounts, visual element improvements, and reworks of previous gameplay mechanics based on feedback.

Bringing the Endgame to the Normal Game

The kicker of Fellowship, which you’ll soon experience in the playtest, is how it takes the dungeoneering aspect from MMOs and iconic classes from MOBAs or games like Wayfinder to a whole new level. The games I play the most are MMOs, and I know how tiring it can be to play dozens of quests just to unlock a dungeon. Sometimes, we just want to jump into the action, kill bosses, and grab shiny loot. This is where Fellowship truly shines. It removes the often slug that some MMOs have and puts you right into the boss-slaying action. Furthermore, it brings pre-established classes for players to grab, and all of them cater to a specific playstyle.

Another interesting thing about Fellowship is how it mentions its “endless scaling replayability.” Since you’ll be spending your time inside dungeons, these will become more difficult as players level up. There might even be a few modifiers or seasonal updates that will shake things up even further.

While Steam Next Fest will be packed with demos, I urge everyone to try Fellowship while its playtest is up. From what we saw in the overview trailer, there are many things that will surely hook players into this dungeon-crawling adventure. From intricate boss mechanics to scaling dungeons and the many fun classes to grab, it’s already looking like a packed playtest. It’s sad that it will only last for a few days, so you better jump into it while it lasts.
