The full release of Football Manager 2018, the latest iteration in the outrageously popular sports sim, is just around the corner. However, those who are chomping at the bit to play this new version can actually start playing the near-complete game right now. The Football Manager 2018 beta is now live and available only to those who preordered the game from a participating digital retailer, such as Steam, Amazon, or the official website.
Football Manager 2018 does not release in full until November 10, but the beta includes nearly all the features that the full release will contain. The features not included in the beta are the data editor, online game modes, fantasy draft, Steam workshop, and FM store. However, any season or career progress made in the beta will carry over seamlessly when the full game releases.
That means you can check out many of the promised new features right now: a new graphics engine, better scouting, more realistic team dynamics, and better AI tactics have all been promised. There has also been a complete overhauling of medical staff, bringing sports science to the forefront to prevent injuries and better care for your star players.
The Football Manager games are regularly near the top of the Steam charts, and with good reason. They provide an in-depth simulation where players can manage every detail of, seemingly, any football club (that would be soccer team to all those Americans out there) in the world. Take control of a powerhouse like Manchester City and dominate the Premier League for decades, or take control of a minor, semi-pro team and lead them out of the fourth division and into prominence against the best clubs in the world. Sign players, cut deals, and manage your finances, all in a bid to become the greatest manager of all time.
Football Manager 2018‘s beta is available now. The full game releases on November 10. We will have more updates as they become available.
