As soon as I started playing Dead Rails on Roblox, I couldn’t help but check if it was based on a true story. The entire experience is filled with rich details that relate to specific historical periods and notable pioneers throughout history. In fact, the amount of times that Nikola Tesla is mentioned had me genuinely going through various historical sources to see if any of this information correlated. So, what was I able to uncover?
Did the Events of Dead Rails Roblox Really Happen?
The events in Dead Rails on Roblox are not based on a true story. It might be hard to believe, considering all the lore that was put into the game. In fact, I commend the writers for creating so much background information, sort of forcing players to do their own research.
For context, the game takes place in an alternate history 1899, four years after Nikola Tesla created a bio-weapon for the US military. His job was not only to create the weapon but also to mimic the effects of yellow fever to ensure that the public wouldn’t realize what was happening. Unfortunately, this is very close to real-world stories in which the US hides militaristic issues under the guise of normalcy.
The real kicker to let you know that these events aren’t real is the fact that the canon involves Tesla becoming infected by the bio-weapon, forcing his team to extract his brain and save it in a jar in order to save it. Sure, this isn’t all too far from a genuine possibility, but considering that there is no record of Tesla having his brain removed or starting a zombie apocalypse, for that matter, it has never happened. Maybe the developers created the lore to sort of mimic the things going on the real world right now. Who really knows?
