Adopt Me has definitely seen its fair share of negativity on social media over the past year regarding its updates. From people saying that they canโt keep up with the constant stream of updates to Roblox Adopt Me prioritizing profits over people, they have certainly been hearing what their players are saying. This was most apparent in the Cherry Blossom Festival, where the game developers took various suggestions and turned it into not only a playable event, but a fun and rewarding one.
A Unique Connection Between Games and Items
What makes this update particularly unique is the many items that also appear in the event’s mini-games. For example, everyone gets the basic Sunrise Hang Glider in Sakura Swoop, but if you buy the Wing Hang and Cherry Blossom Hang Gliders with Cherry Blossom tokens, you can use those in the mini-game, too. It makes the limited Adopt Me items feel more useful outside of the sake of collection.
In Tear Up Toykyo, you play as either as Kaijuniors, which are basically Godzilla-style creatures, and also come in varying colors. You get to knock over toy citiesโit’s a lot of fun! More importantly, you have the option to then collect Kaijunior boxes and raise your very own Kaijuniors.
I’d love to see this expanded on in future Roblox Adopt Me events. Give me more toys and whatnot to collect and use in mini-games. When I can see other players using different versions, it makes me want to send them a message, ask them where they got it, and make it my goal of obtaining.
The Introduction of a Usable and Welcome AFK Zone
The Adopt Me community has been dying for an AFK zone. It was in testing, but it never saw the light of day until the Cherry Blossom Festival. The “Cherry Blossom Viewing” area is essentially an AFK zone by design. You’re seated inside and earn event currency passively.
It’s a welcomed change, especially when you’re super busy and can’t play, but don’t want to get far behind. Time not playing is time not earning event tokens. And I do like that it’s a slow trickle, so that no one is tempted to just spend the entire update AFK.
I’d love to see an AFK zone in the main game. As somebody who balances game time and work, it is nice knowing that you can still receive currency to buy the pets that you want (because there are so many cool pets with this update and you donโt want to miss out!)
Less Focus on Robux, More Focus on the Achievable
I’ve harped on microtransactions before, nor will I stop. However, I did notice Adopt Me’s Cherry Blossom Festival had fewer Robux-only items for sale. They seemed to be an afterthought, given the number of items you can get just from spending Cherry Blossom currency. It’s made the Cherry Blossom grind much more worthwhile.
There were two Robux-only pets this time, which is the average, there were a bunch of pets to obtain this time around. Usually the ratio is much lower to, you know, entice kids to spend money, but not this time. And the Gacha Bot (I hate that name) throws a random capsule at you for just 500 Adopt Me dollars, containing pet eggs and items.
The 2x Egg Hunt was also a really fun way of getting players to work together. Forty eggs would spawn in the server and players had to work together to find them. Everyone got double XP for their pets for an hour if they did. Oh, and everyone got Cherry Blossoms, too!
I desperately want to see Gacha Bot and the 2x Egg Hunt become a permanent feature in Adopt Me. The Gacha Bot could be retooled to reward players with items from the entire catalog, even event-only ones. Meanwhile, the 2x Egg Hunt could be reskinned. Maybe it happens once a day, giving players a daily goal.
With the past Christmas and Halloween 2024 events, updates focused heavily on Robux items and less on fun or unique games. However, Roblox Adopt Me knocked it out of the park with the Cherry Blossom Festival. Hereโs to hoping they consider options like these in the future of their events and consider a Cherry Blossom festival part 2 next year with all-new items!
