Since Trump announced his military parade, people all over the country started planning to go out and protest. These planned protests are named no-kings protests, and of course, the protesters are facing backlash from Trump supporters. One example of this is how several Trump supporters mocked no-kings protesters in North Carolina because most of them, if not all, are old people.
The short video shared shows the protesters entering a park with their signs prepared. As the video zooms in on the dozens of people there, you can clearly notice their old age. Their being elderly was enough to make Trump supporters drag them. Well, it might be shocking that old people are actually against Trump. After all, MAGA believed that the word woke applied to the younger generation. Plus, is there some kind of rule that elderly people can’t protest? Please let me know.
People Reacting to the North Carolina Elderly Protesters
Most of the reactions people had were against the North Carolina protesters due to their age. The insults started with someone saying, “Oh look the old hippies are arriving, the ones who never gave up being on the wrong side of everything.” Someone else called them “paid protesters.” This accusation was repeated by several people as well. Another person believed that the old protesters were being used. “I see old folks bused in from senior facilities/etc, whom are mostly probably unaware that they are being used & duped into believing falsehoods…sad really!!” they wrote.
One X user even claimed that the protesters’ age meant that they were paid. “No energy & old retired (probably). My conclusion: paid,” they wrote. A low blow came from another person who said, “Looks like a supper club outdoor event, or a nursing home field trip.” Nursing homes were mentioned again:

One Trump supporter repeated the North Carolina protesters getting paid accusation, but this time, they mentioned a figure. “A bunch of Grandma and Grandpa tea toodlers mixed in from the local convelescent center getting paid $200.00 as they leave,” they wrote (They should work on their spelling skills). Again, there is nothing wrong with old people protesting. They can make their own decisions.
