At one point, you have to ask yourself when will police brutality stop? It feels like it just keeps happening again and again. Unfortunately, a lot of the time, police violence is directed at Black individuals. One Black civilian was unlucky as he was brutally attacked by a White police officer in Alaska. The video filmed of the attack shows two police officers arresting a woman and a man. From what the cameraman is saying, it’s likely that the woman was being arrested for fighting with someone and being racist. “Y’all ain’t gonna be talking about Black people no more,” he says. Right at that moment, the cop arresting the man carries him and slams him to the ground. His head hit the pavement and he was unconscious right away.

You see the officer starting to realize that his victim is unresponsive. The look on the cop’s face and the fact that he kept adjusting his hat show that he knows that he messed up. His partner comes up to him and instead of calling an ambulance, they start searching the guy’s pockets. It almost seems like they were hoping to find something to justify this horrible attack. Guess what? They find nothing. KTOO stated that the victim was a friend of the woman and that he was being arrested because he aggressively approached an officer. The police statement also said that the man was taken to the ground because he resisted arrest. In the video, you don’t see any resistance at all. To make matters worse, the man had to be medevacked to Seattle to receive treatment. Some said that he is in a critical condition.

People Reacting to the Violent Arrest in Alaska

Almost everyone was horrified by the horrible attack in Alaska. You always hope that police brutality will one day stop, but that is yet to happen. Someone thought that the guy was dead now as they asked, “Did I just watch a cop kill a man not resisting at all?” Others noticed that the officer realized he messed up as two people wrote “And you also saw the officer realize this in real time” along with “The several readjustments of his cap after he realized what he had done.” Another person had a strong belief that nothing was going to happen to the officer. “Sir this is America. In conclusion to the Investigation to the incident it will be found that killing a man that was not resisting was justified. Our white gangs have the protection of the united states government,” they wrote.

Several kept mentioning the fact that the officer certainly looked guilty as one person wrote, “Nervously adjust your hat again! You know you’re guilty!” At least he knew that he messed up. Someone else commented on the police’s claim that the Black civilian was resisting. “Yeah, I sure saw a lot of resisting going on. F**king disgusting,” they said. The police had the audacity to make this claim despite the whole arrest being filmed. How would they explain their lies? This made one person glad that someone filmed this. They wrote, “This is why I love that people record police interactions. This might have been swept under the rug if not recorded by a citizen.” A lot of people also described this as attempted murder. It should be treated as such, if the guy survived.
