For the first time in many years, it is shocking to see that 2025 is lacking in zombie games. Usually, we have a year flooded with brain-eater titles, but that wasn’t the case this time. However, that’s something great. It means that we’re getting more high-quality products, and the one that stands out above every other one is Dying Light: The Beast. Ever since it was announced, parkour fans who love bashing zombies with traffic signs have been eager to get their hands on this new entry in the series. And since we aren’t the exception, we’ve made a list of the five most exciting features coming to Dying Light: The Beast.
1. A Direct Sequel

As you may know, Crane is back for Dying Light: The Beast, which might be strange for some, but it makes total sense. After many years, it seems that the “canon ending” debate is finally over, as Dying Light: The Beast points out that the Infected Ending was the true one, and the starting point of this new entry. We’ll still have to wait and see how Crane got the zombie DNA, but the plot is looking pretty promising. Furthermore, if you haven’t played any of the previous games, trying the first one is an excellent idea, at least according to the game’s director in a recent interview with Epic Games.
2. Improved Combat

Many have always said that Dying Light did fantastic things with the combat we’ve seen in several zombie survival games, but now, The Beast seems to be the culmination of everything the studio has learned. The first entry had terrific combat against zombies, while the second one improved how we’d engage human foes. Dying Light: The Beast improves upon both systems to make the ultimate combat of the franchise, and one we can’t wait to experience. Judging by the recent previews, everything is smoother, gorier, and more reactive.
3. The Goriest Entry of the Series

One iconic thing from Dying Light is its gore, and since it has improved with every entry, The Beast isn’t an exception. This time, Techland put a lot of emphasis on the gory aspects of the game, making every fight turn into full-blown carnage. You can see some of the early footage, as well as some trailers, and the way zombies get cut down in half now or lose skin as you punch them is unlike anything we’ve seen. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but those fans of eviscerating undead will have a blast.
4. Unleash The Beast (Mode)

By now, we know that poor Crane will be struggling to keep the beast in check, which is this game’s main gimmick. However, it is more than just a narrative thing; it is a gameplay feature. Crane will be able to tear through enemies in a literal sense and with his bare hands. According to early gameplay footage, it is a limited-time mode that you’ll need to control and improve as the game progresses. The game’s director, Smektala, said that “it isn’t a God mode,” so you need to be careful when you use it.
5. Map and Atmosphere

Last, but certainly not least, the atmosphere. Dying Light, as a series, has always done a terrific job at presenting a post-apocalyptic world full of parkour areas and deadly zombies. However, Castor Woods is looking like the largest and most terrifying area of the whole franchise. We’ve already seen how Crane can walk around the woods while also using the building’s verticality to traverse the area and avoid the undead. It might sound strange, but this is one of the few post-apocalyptic locations that we can’t wait to explore, regardless of the dangers.
