The mother of all crossovers has hit the gaming landscape. Today, Helldivers 2 launched a new trailer ahead of the release on Xbox on August 26, 2025. Yet, what no one expected was to see a teaser for the crossover between Helldivers 2 and the legendary Halo 3: ODST. While this isn’t the first collaboration event coming to the managed democracy simulator, it is one of the most anticipated, and one that has excited all players, especially now that Helldivers 2 will break all borders and become available on almost every platform in the market.

Helldivers 2 x Halo 3: ODST Crossover Teased

To build up hype, Helldivers 2 released the “Bring the Boom” trailer, showcasing the democratic action we all love to take part in. It has the liberating humor we’re used to, alongside the mayhem caused by the expendable Helldivers. However, we got a glimpse at the video’s ending, showcasing a new pod landing in a city, with the Halo 3: ODST music in the background.

It is essential to mention that Halo 3: ODST placed you in the boots of a regular soldier, not Master Chief, which is a more fitting crossover for Helldivers 2. Previously, Halo 3: ODST was exclusive to the Xbox 360, but launched later on Xbox One and PC. In terms of the story, it worked as a bridge between Halo 2 and Halo 3. With all that in mind, this collaboration may be similar to the Killzone one, which added cosmetic items and weapons. Hopefully, this time the studio will handle the event better, as the first collaboration received a lot of backlash when it launched.

While it isn’t an actual game, it is wild to see that Halo will arrive to some capacity on a PlayStation platform, thanks to Helldivers 2. In the past, no one imagined seeing the iconic Spartan soldiers, or in this case, Shock Troopers, landing on a Sony console, but here we are. Yet, it might not be surprising for many, especially those following leaks. Some people have claimed that Xbox is trying to bring the legendary FPS series to PlayStation, and it doesn’t sound that far-fetched. As you know, Gears of War: Reloaded will land on PS5 on the same day as other platforms, which is unprecedented, especially for a series that was exclusive to Microsoft ever since it launched.

In truth, this is excellent news, as it might usher in the arrival of Master Chief to PS5, and hopefully break down the console-exclusivity model we’ve seen for decades. If not, we’re still glad to get Halo appearing in other media, especially after being silent for so much time. Plus, it could be the perfect time because Halo season is around us, as even Fortnite has added a Spartan skin for its latest battle pass.
