Do you ever feel like more and more people lack social awareness these days? Even the simplest trip to the grocery store involves running into rude and inconsiderate people. A woman in Montana shared she feels more boomer-like than ever before. Apparently, she feels the same way. What was supposed to be a simple triple to Target turned into a disaster, and she’s had enough, and it’s something we could all stand to hear.

TikTok user Mac—@opebigyikes—shared a video captioned, “Every time I leave the house I feel more and more like a boomer bc what happened to common courtesy??” She admitted being around people for more than a few minutes makes her want to scream. Her recent trip to Target only emphasized those feelings. First, Mac said she was waiting in line with five other people at Target’s self-checkout. With the audacity of God, an old woman came up behind her and cut in front of everybody. The woman scoffed at the line and then stood up against Mac. She was standing so closely that, when Mac shifted her weight, she bumped into the woman.

She said another man walked right past the ‘card only’ sign and then scoffed at the employee, asking, “Are these all card?” As if that was the employee’s doing. Those kinds of people are the real boomers!

When she returned to her vehicle, Mac said she tried to back out of her spot with her reverse lights on. She noticed a man was standing behind her vehicle and not moving even though he could clearly see she was backing up. “What are we doing?” Mac finally asked, after sharing her experiences.

Others echoed the same thoughts, including myself. “Being overly self aware in a world of people who have no awareness at all is a struggle,” one commenter said. I agree, and it’s essentially the plot of I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, starring Melanie Lynskey and Elijah Wood.

Another person shared, “I legitimately cannot handle being in public anymore. Everyone and everything is so loud too. People not paying attention, speakerphone full volume, everyone acting like it’s their first day outside and confused by everything like I cannot do it anymore. I get most things delivered bc every time I leave my house I come back in a bad mood.” I feel that—I really do.
