North Carolina Man Refuses to Sit Next to Trump Supporters, Offends Them, ‘I Think This Reaction to His Hat is Justified’

It’s usually easy to identify a Trump supporter these days on the basis of their hat choice alone. For those who have suffered losses due to his administration, it’s difficult to be friendly toward those who voted for him. Understanding his executive decisions and goals makes left-leaning people uncomfortable in a conservative person’s presence at times. One man in North Carolina took this to a whole new level when he refused to sit next to some MAGA hats in a restaurant.

Russell Ellis (@jolly_good_ginger) posted a TikTok video showing an incident that took place in a restaurant recently. In the video, you see a man in a red MAGA hat approach Russell’s table. The man said to Russell, “Just because you get triggered by us wearing hats… that’s insane.” He then calls them “childish” and tells them that they “should be ashamed” of themselves. When Russell’s table fights back with him, he keeps the argument going by repeatedly calling them childish. Russell stands up for his friends and says to the man, “Hey, f**k off, dude” while he continues to record.

So here’s the full story, they say us next to MAGA, I said “nah, move us please”. The MAGA cultists were triggered that I said move us. So they started talking shit – we talked shit back. We moved to the OTHER side of the restaurant and then 20 mins later this kid (he’s like 20 something) came up crying about how WE started it and shit. He approached the Women and not me – which is very telling. I didn’t like that. The rest is in this video.

Russell explains that the confrontation started after Russell’s table refused to sit next to a bunch of customers in MAGA hats. He told the waitress, “Nah, move us, please.” The waitress moved them to a new table on the other side of the restaurant. That’s when the younger man in the hat followed them. As Russell said, he approached them and said, “You antagonized us”. He berated them and told them they were to blame for the argument. Russell said that the man intentionally chose to harass the women at the table instead of coming to him.

Many commenters agreed that they would have handled the situation just as Russell did. One commenter said, “I think this reaction to his hat is justified. At this point, people with that hat make people feel threatened because of what it stands for. As much as you want to call it ‘liberals being sensitive,’ it doesn’t matter.” Another person asked, “Weren’t these the same people triggered by masks??”

It’s clear that Russell and his table weren’t about to deal with outright fascism while trying to enjoy a meal together. In fact, one of his friends fights back in the video, telling the man in the MAGA hat that he’s a “fascist.” It’s not difficult to see that he’s the most offended person in the restaurant. And to approach a table to have words over it seems like an easy way to cause some drama.
