After months of anticipation, the long-awaited reunion between King Charles and his errant son Prince Harry has ended, and the Duke of Sussex has yet to show anything for it. This meeting was supposed to be Harry’s chance at some redemption in reattaining his royalty or benefits from the Royal Family. It goes without saying that Meghan Markle was unquestionably a primary reason in the Prince’s endeavors, as he was hellbent on getting her HRH title back. Unfortunately, the much-anticipated meeting did not go well, as King Charles scolded his son after he left.

According to royal gossip commentator River, King Charles was overheard muttering, “He’s not listening” after Prince Harry had departed. If this alleged comment by the monarch is true, then it could serve as clear evidence that the Duke of Sussex did indeed lay down his demands to the King rather than using the meeting as an ideal time for reconciliation. This is rather hypocritical, considering Prince Harry said in an interview in May that he wanted to reconcile with his family. And now that he’s had his chance, he’s allegedly spent that precious time trying to get the King to listen to him when it was he who wasn’t listening to his father, based on what Charles muttered after the meeting.
The Actual Meeting Between Harry and Charles Was Much Shorter
River has also reported that the meat of the meetup wasn’t actually as long as outlets claim. While the event might have been roughly a few minutes short of an hour, the time Harry was actually interacting with Charles is said to have been around 20 minutes. The other 35-ish minutes consisted of Harry taking multiple bathroom breaks and “wolfing down” snacks with coffee. To be fair, anyone would be nervous speaking to the King, especially considering the estranged relationship Harry has had with his father over the past 19 months. Still, you’d think the Prince would have thought everything out better to make his time with Charles count and not end in getting scolded behind his back.
Many believe Harry actually cares very little for King Charles and instead was at the Palace to just “ask for money and the footing of the security bill.” Others sarcastically speculate that the Duke’s trips to the bathroom were to adjust his secret recording device or do drugs to calm his nerves. Going back to what Charles said after the meeting, one person made a good point:
“Whether the King actually said those words is irrelevant. The fact that the story exists, and has been so widely reported, is the point. It is a powerful bit of PR that frames the lack of a full, public reconciliation as a failure on Harry’s part, not his father’s.”
