A new video from Paris Fashion Week has gone viral, and this time, it’s not for the runway looks. Meghan Markle is facing backlash online after being caught on camera appearing to chuckle when a model stumbled on the catwalk. In the now-viral clip shared to X (formerly Twitter), the Duchess of Sussex is seen sitting front row in an elegant white ensemble, chatting with others around her. Moments later, as something seemingly happens on the runway, Meghan briefly covers her mouth and appears to laugh.
A post featuring the video quickly took off with the caption, “What sort of person laughs at a model stumbling/falling on a Paris catwalk… A narcissist, that’s who.” The footage sparked immediate debate across social media. Some online critics were quick to slam Meghan’s reaction. One user wrote, “She had to check herself quick, the guy beside her was having none of it.” Another added, “Marcus puts her in her place for it. She acts like a child, adults learn to control impulsive emotions.”
Meghan Markle’s Paris Appearance Follows Another Viral Controversy
The Fashion Week incident isn’t the first time Meghan Markle has made headlines in Paris this week. Just days earlier, the Duchess sparked a heated debate online after sharing a short video filmed from the back seat of a car, a clip that some felt was in poor taste given its location. The video, reportedly taken less than a mile from the tunnel where Princess Diana tragically died in 1997, shows Meghan passing over the Pont Alexandre III bridge, seemingly traveling toward the Pont de l’Alma, the site of the fatal crash.
A British tabloid accused the Duchess of insensitivity, suggesting the timing and framing of the clip were inappropriate considering her late mother-in-law’s connection to the city. Others defended her, arguing that Meghan was simply documenting her trip through Paris and likely meant no harm.
Controversy Follows Meghan’s Quiet Business Move
The latest Paris controversy also comes on the heels of Meghan Markle’s new product launch under her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. On October 3, the Duchess subtly expanded her venture into the wine aisle, announcing the debut of a 2024 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc in a cleverly coded Instagram post.

The post featured a simple caption, “We heard you missed us. We’re back… and we brought a friend.” The accompanying carousel opened with a shot of the brand’s existing Apricot Spread and Orange Marmalade neatly packaged in a gift box, before cutting to a bottle of the chilled Sauvignon Blanc resting on ice.
While the wine debut was initially met with excitement from fans praising its elegant presentation, critics noted that the product’s quiet rollout was quickly overshadowed by Meghan’s back-to-back viral moments in Paris.
