Many of the people of Illinois are not having it with ICE or any of Trump’s goons, and some have even decided to put up a fight. One particular man in Aurora was so fed up that he stepped up to one of the federal vehicles and gave it a solid punch in the rear window. Whether it was his intent or not, the glass broke from his strike, shattering a hole in the car. The federal agents standing around weren’t too happy and chased the culprit down, and he was reportedly arrested for the attack.
While violence is said to ‘not be the answer,’ many argue that ICE has no issue destroying the property of civilians or even physically harming people in the process. That said, Reddit has crowned this Illinois man as a hero of the people, with some calling him “a true American” and “a real American patriot.” Peaceful protestors or not, ICE agents have been known and publicly filmed to be harassing and bullying innocent people. And while this window-punching individual was definitely not the peaceful type, thousands found his performance smashing.
“Smashing windows is just ICE’s way of communicating. He was just trying to communicate back,” laughs a user. “How many videos have we seen ICE destroying property and terrorizing people from rooftops?? TOO MANY,” exclaims another individual. Other commenters joke around, claiming they “didn’t see anything” concerning what happened in the video, which is very similar to how ICE acts whenever they get up to mischief but reject accountability. A great example is how agents were turned away from raiding a baseball stadium back in June, yet they denied any accusations of trying to enter.
Some Believe this Illinois Window Smasher Could Have Been an ‘Inside Man’
Some Redditors believe that the Illinois man who busted the vehicle’s window could have actually been one of ICE’s agents pretending to be a protestor. “It was probably one of their own acting as an agitator,” suggests a commenter. “This guy is def an ICE plant,” a second person agrees. Others point out how this sort of violent reactive behavior is exactly what ICE wants people to do in the first place; that way, agents have a reason to suppress similar ‘threats.’
Conspiracy or not, this window-breaking scene has still been a breath of fresh air for many. ICE’s minions have been on an ongoing rampage, so people feel it’s about time they got a taste of their own medicine.
