Just when you think a situation is bad enough, things can sometimes get even worse, which is what happened at a late mother’s funeral in Alabama. After arriving at the graveside in the cemetery, the funeral home’s driver accidentally left the keys for the hearse inside the locked vehicle, with the mom still inside. As if the day couldn’t get worse already, fortunately, the local police were called and made short work of the lock and resolved the problem in 10 minutes.
“Waiting on a locksmith could’ve been 2 hrs,” the deceased’s daughter expressed on r/mildlyinfuriating, remarking how the whole ordeal would have been sitcom-worthy had the cops not shown up. Thankfully, the police officers were not busy that day, so they were able to help out without issue. Still, the fact that this hiccup at the funeral happened at all is quite intriguing. “It’s just a reminder that even during death, life still happens,” the daughter said.
Many in the Reddit post’s comment section shared their condolences for the daughter’s late Alabama mother, yet they also found the funeral home’s mistake rather hilarious. “Not having met your mom I hope she would have had a good laugh at this,” joked a user. “There’s something magical about minor annoyances on funeral days that help clarify the hilarious nature of existing,” added another. “You knew she would be late to her own funeral,” kidded a third.
“If you can’t have a good time, then have a good story,” said the daughter, quoting her mother’s words when she was still around. Once the workers got the deceased from the car, they buried her beside the daughter’s late dad’s grave. The rest of the service seemed to have gone smoothly as well, with plenty of people attending who were taught by the mother in Vacation Bible School or Sunday School at least once. That said, it’s nice to know she had a good impact on people and went out in a rather comical style regarding the locked hearse.
