There are several times when all of us gamers need a bit of a pinch to see if we’re not experiencing some wild gaming fever dream. One of those situations happened today because we finally got a launch window for Halo: Campaign Evolved, but also confirmation that it is coming, for the first time, to PlayStation. As someone who never had an Xbox console and wasn’t able to play with the cool Halo kids back in the day, I’m glad this series has broken down all boundaries and is ready to reach a much bigger audience, in one of the best-looking ways possible.
Halo: Campaign Evolved Launches in 2026 on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation
In case you missed the stream or the video that was published before in other channels, Halo: Campaign Evolved is coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 consoles. However, this isn’t just a remaster or a re-release with a few graphical improvements; it is a whole remake with several new additions, including weapons and missions.
According to the official announcement, Halo Studios wanted to keep that feeling from the iconic original game while also modernizing it with many new features, such as stunning visuals created in Unreal Engine 5.
While the campaign remains untouched, and even the original voice actors are returning, there are plenty of new additions that veteran fans will appreciate. For starters, three missions are coming to the game, serving as a prequel featuring Master Chief and Johnson.
Nine weapons from the series are coming to this remake, meaning that those who enjoyed the more modern entries of the franchise will get to see some of their favorite weapons in this game’s arsenal.
Vehicles, another key aspect of the series, are getting an overhaul, like smoother movement for the iconic Warthog. Yet players will now be able to hijack enemy vehicles, including the Wraith tank. And for those looking for an extra challenge, Halo: Campaign Evolved will feature a lot of Skulls to make each encounter feel challenging or hilarious if you’re counting confetti headshots.
And if that wasn’t enough, co-op mode is also coming, with two players being able to play together locally and up to four online. Also, you don’t have to worry about what platform each player is using, because the game is launching with cross-save and cross-progression, breaking down the walls even further.
There isn’t a release date yet for the game, but we know the window is 2026, and well, that’s not too far away now. Whether you’re a PlayStation gamer who never got to experience it or a hardcore Halo fan, this remake will be the ultimate way to experience the beginnings of the legendary Master Chief.
