A lot of people around the country don’t know how to handle alcohol, and while that is fine, as long as any drama happens behind closed doors, if it gets out of hand and affects others, then it quickly becomes a terrifying situation. An example of this happened in San Diego, California, where a person shared how the son of his landlord was so drunk that he smashed the OP’s window and then broke their vehicle’s taillight. But that’s not the worst thing. After this harrowing event, the police officers took two hours to arrive at the scene.
This Reddit user published a couple of pictures of the aftermath of the drunk landlord’s son. According to them, the son broke his sobriety at night. He started kicking the neighbor’s door to stop some dogs from barking. However, the victim approached the drunk man to ask them to stop, and that’s when everything got out of hand.
The drunk son quickly tried to force his entry into the OP’s house by breaking the window. At this time, the victim had already called the police, but they only got a dismissive response, telling the one affected to get a restraining order. During the second attempt to call the police, the drunk man proceeded to break the victim’s taillight. Fortunately, they were lucky during the third attempt, as this is when the police department finally arrived to detain the suspect. Oh, and the cherry on top of it all, the morning after the incident, the victim’s roommate asked them to do the dishes earlier during the day. Not quite related to the previous event, but it just shows that this one was of the OP’s worst nights ever.
The victim shared a bit more context, claiming that the mother is the one paying for the damaged window, as she was the one giving the drunk son a safe space as he recovered from his drinking problems. Unfortunately, the recovery didn’t go so well, as you can see in the images. The OP was nervous about bringing this up to the landlord, but it seems everyone is on the tenant’s side, as the mother went out of their way to get a restraining order against her son.
Other Redditors took their time to comment on the situation and shame the roommate’s reactions.
“This is more than mildly annoying.” Said one user.
“Your roommate is a piece of work, no? I mean, you were just vandalized twice by some maniac….and their first interaction with you is about washing times?” Commented another user.
While it was a scary situation, it seems it ended reasonably well, with the drunk son getting a restriction order and the victim getting a new window. Not the best outcome, but not the worst either.
