Dressing up during Halloween night can get pretty whacky, as many people can and have cosplayed as literally anything, from gothic zombie nurses to Marvel characters. However, it’s always the unexpected and creative characters that are really memorable. And while not exactly creative, no one could have imagined that one random man in Pennsylvania decided to dress up as a real-life assassin, the UnitedHealthcare CEO killer, Luigi Mangione. “Walked in the door at my local bar and was greeted by this amazing costume,” remarked the Reddit poster of the man’s interesting cosplay choice.
Perhaps friends or family told the random Pennsylvania goer that he looked like Luigi. But whatever the case, he went all out, dressing up in one of his iconic looks for a court hearing: vest, green knit sweater, handcuffs, and all. And while what the actual Luigi Mangione did was most definitely unlawful, it’s no secret that plenty of people support the anti-corpo action that took place. The Reddit post’s comments were more racy than anything, with many eagerly joking or perhaps not joking about doing salacious acts with the doppleganger.
Plenty of people also made a joke about how the footage of the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s murderer and this Halloween dress-up proves that “it could have been anyone.” “I don’t know who that guy is, but buy him a drink on me,” kidded one person. “Nice try Mario mangione,” quipped a second. “The fact that he’s passable is why I think there needs to be some serious consideration for the term ‘reasonable doubt‘,” added a third.
In the end, it’s a humorous cosplay of a modern criminal, and many will likely argue that it’s better than what other awful characters of history that people could dress up as. But the man definitely gets points for being original in terms of what people usually imagine a Halloween cosplay to look like. But if he should be careful about one thing with his costume, it’s that “his health insurance company will probably drop him if they found out,” as one commenter jokes.
