A heartbroken woman in Alabama got a major shock while grieving the loss of her stepfather. The woman took to social media to share her story, which struck a chord with many of her viewers. In her video, she revealed that she and her family had just left her stepfather’s funeral, and obviously, emotions were high. So, they decided to go get ice cream. However, she was stunned to see what she believed was her late stepdad at the ice cream shop.
The TikTok video features a line outside of an ice cream shop, where people were enjoying their day. There are young girls in sports jerseys, and one man wearing a pair of khaki cargo shorts, a black t-shirt with a white Henley underneath, and a baseball cap on his head.
The man wears sunglasses and happily eats his ice cream as the crowd is lively around him. However, for the Alabama woman named Emily, the sight threw her into shock. In the caption of the video, she revealed that the man looked exactly like the stepfather, whom she just said her final goodbye to.
Alabama Woman Finds Stepfather’s Doppelganger Immediately After His Funeral
However, it wasn’t her stepfather. Although, the entire thing was jarring for Emily. “Left my stepfather’s funeral just to find him eating ice cream,” she wrote in text centered over the video footage.
“I left my stepfather’s funeral and my husband wanted to get ice cream with our kids. I didn’t even get out of the car, that man looked so much like the man I had just said goodbye too, it broke my heart,” she wrote. Later, she revealed that “it wasn’t a coincidence” in the comment section.
Meanwhile, the rest of the comment section was a long string of messages telling Emily how sorry they were for her loss, and others relating to her situation. Many even claimed they’ve had similar experiences. One person revealed that at first glimpse of the video, they thought Emily’s stepfather had faked his death.
“Totally thought this story was going to end with him faking his own death but really, that’s sweet he was having ice cream with you guys from heaven,” the comment read. “It’s a crazy feeling to think someone is alive for a second,” another person wrote. “My grandparents and I were driving and saw my mom walking on the side of the street six months after she passed. We all gasped simultaneously. And then sat in silence for the rest of the ride. It hurt so badly,” a third person stated.
Saying goodbye to someone is tough. For this Alabama woman, it seems that she may see her stepfather in many forms, which can be hurtful and a blessing all rolled into one.
