Apparently, a meal could taste so good that it might just turn you into a criminal. That’s the only logical explanation for the hilarious sight of a customer pocketing a shaker in a Chicago, Illinois, pizzeria. A video posted on X, formerly Twitter, showed an unidentified customer thoroughly enjoying his pizza while he committed a petty crime.
After taking a sip from his drink, the man picked up the Parmesan cheese shaker on the table and sprinkled some on his pizza. He then looked on each side as though checking for any witnesses before he discreetly slipped the shaker into his pocket and continued his meal as if nothing had happened. The caption accompanying the video noted that it was obtained from the surveillance footage. The clip was playing on a TV screen as someone recorded it. The person behind the camera asked if anyone could recognize the guy. “Gotcha! [expletive],” they said, zooming in on the culprit’s face.
“I feel like we could have let this one slide without dragging this dude across the entire Internet, personally,” an X user said in the comment section, while another quipped, “I don’t see a thief. I see a man who tasted greatness and refused to go back to mediocrity. That shaker wasn’t stolen — it was rescued.”
Echoing that sentiment, some defended the action, arguing the great taste of Parmesan cheese was irresistible. “I don’t think you understand how good Parmesan cheese really is.” Another teased, “Does the Parmesan cheese taste that good that he had to steal it, or is it just in his blood to steal?” One netizen speculated it was not his first rodeo, “Guy probably does this frequently and does it for the thrill. No reason for it.”
Still, the humour continued, “He didn’t even wait till he was done to snatch it? What if he wanted more cheese?” a user pondered. “This is just hilarious imo, that’s like going to McDonald’s and you keep the freaking tray,” another joked. A user felt the guy was justified, blaming inflation for his crime, writing, “He probably paid for that shaker 10 times over anyway, for the overpriced food.” Finally, a user joked, “Bro, casually eating like a king and sprinkling Parmesan like it’s a secret mission.”
Not only are shakers being stolen from restaurants, but everyone in the food service industry is having a tough time. Recently, we reported that a customer took their pizza from a deliveryman without paying, just because he did not have enough change.
The customer handed the delivery guy a $100 note and asked for $35 in change. When the delivery guy said he didn’t have that much, the customer got annoyed. After a few moments of exchange, the customer went in with the pizza and shut the door on the deliveryman.
It seems Pizza is the official meal of thieves!
