Having green spaces and recreational areas is very important for citizens. However, it is the responsibility of both the people themselves and local governments to keep the city in good condition. That’s why a Dallas, Texas, citizen was very saddened to see a local park in terrible condition after Panda Fest. Now, this citizen wondered who would be responsible for everything.

Panda Fest left Carpenter Park trashed

Redditor EmotionalSupportBees shared some photos on r/Dallas of their daily walk with their doggo in a local park. However, OP explains that Panda Fest was held in that same park in Dallas, Texas, over the weekend, and that they left everything in a deplorable condition. It’s not just that the attendees and the festival itself left trash or dirt behind. There was also “damaged and broken park equipment, dead grass, deep tire treads in the grass from trucks, and sidewalks stained from what looks like a fire and oil spills.” In addition, the trash around the site was not just wrappers and food scraps you would expect at a food festival like Panda Fest. There was also metal debris and batteries on the sidewalks and grass.

OP explained that they understand that many people do not care about properly disposing of trash. However, OP also questioned whether the festivals that require permits are, to some extent, responsible for leaving the park undamaged.

“So glad I didn’t attend this literal trash event,” explained degelia.

The worst part is that one of the users who supposedly attended the Panda Fest says the event was nothing special and that they were very disappointed with the whole thing. “All for a pretty underwhelming event. This location was really cool, but super over priced and not a ton to do outside of spend $100+ on a few small portions of food,” commented Pitiful-Discipline-7.

In addition, OP explained that they had seen other events held at that park. Yet, when they finished, the park looked great. So, OP asked for advice on how, to whom, and where to report the damage. Fortunately, another user recommended that OP report the incident directly on the Panda Fest website. However, some believe that OP is exaggerating about the park being in poor condition. This is because they claimed that many green areas in Dallas always look bad. Even so, everyone deserves to live in a city that looks good and is well cared for.
