California Woman With Rainbow Braids Caught on Video Going on Racist Rant Inside AMPM Store: ‘I’m Black in America, I Never Be Racist’

A shocking racist tirade erupted inside a California AMPM store when a woman with rainbow braids launched into an offensive outburst. The moment was caught on video by a bystander, although the reason behind the outburst hasn’t been confirmed.

The video, which was shared to r/PublicFreakout earlier today, takes place inside of a California AMPM store, and sees the lady with rainbow braids stood at the counter hurling abuse at a worker. “Weird [expletives] foreigners in America!” she yells as she walks away from the counter, with what appear to be receipts in her hand. “And I’m not talking about Mexicans or none of that! I’m talking about that weird Indian [expletive]!” While she goes off on her racist tirade, an employee can be seen casually working in front of the counter, and seemingly ignoring the woman’s angry meltdown.

Her xenophobic rant escalates, with her insisting she isn’t being racist because she is Black. “So don’t get offended! I’m not racist. I’m Black in America, I never be racist! Weird [expletives] people!” After some further offensive language, she can be heard shouting, “Take this [expletive] back to India!” which brings an end to the footage, as the witness leaves the AMPM convenience store.

Reactions to the incident have poured in, with many criticizing her claim that Black people cannot be racist because they are Black. On Reddit, one user wrote, “Did she say she can never be racist while obviously being racist? People are weird” while another thoughtful Redditor chimed in with, “The thing is there are two common definitions of racism: racism as most people use; prejudice against someone due to their perceived race (where the race of the victim isn’t actually important) and institutional racism where one race has more power in society and that power is used to keep another race or races economically, socially, and status lower than the more powerful race (red lining, stronger sentencing for crimes, higher police scrutiny, greater difficulties finding work or housing) which a member of a targeted race cannot be because they’re not in power. She’s confusing the two, she is the first one and she can definitely be racist, obviously.”

Meanwhile, a third commenter chipped in with, “She’s not racist because she only hates Indian people and not Mexican people? Racists always have justification for it. Gross” and a fourth added, “Ah yes the old “I’m not racist racist, just normal racist”“

In reality, however, it’s important to emphasise that any person can be racist, regardless of race. Racism is defined by words and actions — and not by a person’s identity — and this encounter serves as a reminder of that.
