Imagine you just bought groceries at Walmart, you’re all packed up, the kids are buckled, and you’re on your way, but suddenly ICE and the DEA are yanking you from your car. That’s the horror one California mother endured while in the parking lot, getting ready to leave. You’d think there would be some justification for it, but being in the parking lot of a Walmart probably isn’t one of them. Where’s the threat?
The viral video was shared on Instagram via New Orleans Updates, which showed ICE and DEA abducting a woman from her vehicle in a Los Angeles Walmart parking lot. Two agents are seen reaching inside the driver’s side, eager to pull her out. One is especially violent, throwing punches and yanking hard, while the other agent offers support. The entire time, children are screaming and crying, while their mother begs them to leave her alone in Spanish.
According to the poster on Reddit, “Other federal agencies like DEA, FBI and even Federal Park Police have been disappearing people. It seems like most federal PD are in on this now,” and apparently, these organizations will stop at nothing to break up families.
“They should really just put like red armbands on their arms like right around the bicep or something. And then all the normal citizens are able to realize that these are, you know, the authority,” one commenter mused.
“She pulled up and had brown skin. This is just kidnapping. I know we have said it over and over again, but how do we make ourselves be heard? Who has care of the babies when the mothers are just ripped away? Is it the DFACS? They already have a workload they can’t handle. What is happening to these children?” another commenter asked.
There’s something particularly chilling about an organization that’s okay with traumatizing children. But it’s simple: causing harm is the point, unfortunately. Mark Ruffalo put it best: “Immigrants aren’t the criminals.”
Another unfortunate realization is that this isn’t the first time ICE has done this. In fact, ICE has been frequently captured abducting people off the streets, such as New York. Naturally, these ICE raids continue to spark protests, making it clear ICE is being barbaric.
