A Michigan woman detailed her nightmarish experience with her now-former roommate. Among many other things, the roommate was invasive, woke her up constantly, and was responsible for them having two fridges in the same small dorm room.
The “roommate from hell” story was shared by TikTok user b0ngrip (Al). From the get-go, red flags began to wave, as her newly assigned Michigan State University roommate left her multiple texts despite Al telling her she was unavailable for a single day. One of the texts said that the roommate was giving Al’s number to her immediate family in case of an emergency.
Things got tense pretty quickly, as the roommate told Al that she “runs a pretty strict program” and that she wouldn’t hesitate to report her to their resident assistant if she found anything in their room that “shouldn’t be there.”
“I immediately applied for a room switch,” Al said. However, that room switch wouldn’t happen before things became even more annoying.
According to Al, the girls agreed that she was going to bring a fridge while the roommate was going to bring a microwave. However, when they finally met and moved to their room, there was no microwave at all. The roommate had brought another fridge.
“At this point, probably a third of our room is just fridge,” Al said. “The whole time I lived there, neither of us used more than one shelf of our fridge.”
Al went on to describe how uncomfortable living with her then-roommate was. According to her, she would stare at her constantly by having her chair face her at all times. In a follow-up video, Al said her Michigan university roommate woke her up for class and let someone rummage through her things, among other things.
The TikToker ended up getting a microwave of her own. Her roommate, however, was initially mad at her and told her to leave it on her side of the room. Despite her initial reservations, the girl used Al’s microwave significantly more than Al. Worst of all, she would use it while Al was taking online classes, choosing to carelessly go behind her while Al’s camera and microphone were on.
Roommate From Hell Reactions
Many reacted to Al’s story by sharing stories of their own. All, however, agreed that Al’s roommate was terrible.
“That’s creepy. Boundaries are nice,” one user commented. Another one said, “You should write a book on your college dorming experience.” A third one wrote, “I know that double fridge in the dorm struggle happened to me too.”
One can only endure so much after a faux microwave promise, the nagging, staring, and the double fridge situation.
