‘We Shouldn’t Be Working Like This’: Michigan Woman Cries Over Rent While Others Afford Coachella

She said what many feel

A young woman from Michigan had a total meltdown in her car. A user, @WallStreetApes, posted the video on X, and in it, she is sitting alone, crying, barely holding it together. She spills everything that’s eating at her: working nonstop, struggling to cover basic things such as rent and bills, while it seems like everyone else is out there dropping cash on things like Coachella tickets or blowing money just to prove a point.

Young Americans are losing it and having mental breakdowns because they just can’t afford to live

“I'm f*cking stressed out. I'm f*cking stressed. We should not be working like this. I work my ass off and I can't even f*cking pay bills — All of sh*t just pointless”

“I’m *expletive* stressed out! We should not be working like this! I work my *expletive* off and I can’t even *expletive* pay bills, bro!” she shouts straight into the camera. She is not having any of that “don’t compare yourself to others” advice. She flat-out admits she can’t notice. “I see people going to Coachella and *expletive* like buying all types of *expletive*, just pointless *expletive* you money. And I’m over here can’t even fing pay my fing rent, bro!”

The video took off on X, and instead of judging, most people seemed to see themselves in it. That feeling she describes, working all week and still not making ends meet, keeps popping up in viral posts these days, probably because rent, groceries, and everything else keep getting pricier for young people.

Internet Reacts To Michigan Woman’s Tearful Video About Working Hard and Still Not Affording Rent

The video prompted a wide range of responses, many of which leaned toward sympathy and structure. “Working 40+ hours a week and not being able to afford basic utilities is a sign of a failing economic structure. A country that prioritizes corporate subsidies over the ‘living wage’ of its youth is a country building its future on sand,” one person wrote. Others framed it with dark humor and solidarity. “Bro, she’s crying because rent’s due… I’m crying because my paycheck vanished before I even saw it. We’re all in this clown car together!” a user commented.

Some took a harder edge. “These are the guys that’ll finally burn Wall Street to the ground,” one person wrote. Others responded with empathy and without political framing. “A tragedy on the young people trying to forge a lane in today’s world,” a user said simply.

Not all reactions steered away from blame. “The problem is most Americans don’t equate their struggle and rising prices to government spending and expansion of the state. It is 100% directly related to that,” one commenter argued, reflecting the political split the video quickly inherited.

This clip stands out because there’s nothing staged about it. There’s no editing or a filter. It’s just a person completely fed up, venting in her car. People argue about what’s to blame: maybe it’s the economy, bad policies, greedy companies, or just bad luck, but the frustration itself is almost universal right now.
