There are a lot of jobs out there that require employees to handle a vehicle or rely on a service to actually complete their work. For example, Amazon drivers require phone service and a delivery van in order to make their routes safely and efficiently. However, according to a woman in Hanover, Maryland, Amazon dispatchers went over to her after she’d reported the service on her phone not working properly. Instead of offering help, the dispatchers allegedly took the van and asked her to get her own ride, which she was unable to do, forcing her to be stranded and alone in an unfamiliar place at night.

The above video was posted to the TikTok account @itzz.etelle, owned by a black woman named Erelle. She typically posts about her daily life, though things were a bit different in this video. She immediately describes what had just happened to her while working for Amazon at their Hanover, Maryland, center.

She explained that she was unable to complete her routes because of the signal on her phone and called it into the company. The company agreed that as a result, the job was not going to fit her, requiring her to return the vehicle. Despite agreeing, she alleges that she was told that if she did not pull over and have Amazon retrieve the vehicle, the authorities would be called.

When Amazon came to retrieve the van, she was allegedly left behind and forced to get her own ride home. Considering that she didn’t have the internet connection to make the deliveries, this also meant she was not able to get a ride home, leaving her an hour away from the Amazon facility, in Frederick, Maryland, in the cold at night.

As the video progresses, it becomes clear that one of the men who took the Amazon van from her, whom she alleges is named Wilfredo, has been an issue for a long time. Apparently, when he arrived to take the van, he had told her that money would be given to her to take a Lyft, though that never ended up happening.

Commentators from all over jumped into the replies to condemn Amazon for their actions and shjowing empathy for Erelle. Many of the comments were in the vein of advice from previos Amazon employees, with one person saying, “Ex amazon driver here, and indeed they were supposed to “rescue” you by taking your majority or entire load. You KEEP your van and either finish the last stops or simply take YOUR van back to the station. NO WHEREEE does it say physically leave someone stranded. That’s against policy.“

Other comments suggest that Erelle take legal action against the company, stating that they’ve endangered her life by putting her in this situation. More specifically, the top comment said, “They left you outside in the winter at night. Go find a lawyer. You should have called the police and filed a report so it’s documented.”

Erelle did make an update video to try and add context to the situation, though there haven’t been videos detailing what has happened since as a result of her post.
