Usually, when politicians don’t have a lot of fans or are facing criticism, they would try to save the situation by filming themselves doing something charitable. Sometimes this plan might work, but most of the time it doesn’t. In the case of JD Vance and his wife Usha, the plan failed miserably. The two of them headed to a homeless shelter in Allentown, Pennsylvania to help serve food to people there. Rather than improve his public image with this, the internet just criticized him even more.
In the video at the Pennsylvania shelter, you could see Vance wearing a hairnet and asking the person waiting for food to tell him what he wanted; the hairnet didn’t suit him though. He then asked the man for his name, which was kind of a nice gesture. When the guy told him that he didn’t want carrots, Vance didn’t hesitate to say, “Cook’s carrots are disgusting.” While such a short video shouldn’t do a lot of damage, it did. Immediately, people started trying to find all the things they disliked about it. Perhaps the thing they disliked most in the video was Vance himself.
People Reacting to JD Vance’s Presence at the Pennsylvania Shelter
JD Vance’s video at the Pennsylvania shelter quickly drew widespread criticism. Many claimed that he didn’t want to be there, as one person wrote, “Neither of them want to be there. It shows.” Another person said, “Damn he looks irritated to be there.” Someone else wrote, “It’s giving ‘here damn’.” Others tried to analyze his body language as one TikTok user focused on how Vance didn’t look people in the eye. “Zero eye contact from him,” they wrote.
Thankfully for Vance, some people praised him. “JD vance is so kind. I have never seen leftists do this,” one person wrote. They were dragged as well. Another person asked, “Why are people mad when he is literally out in public helping and feeding people?” That was when someone replied, “because he’s an evil piece of [expletive] pretending that he cares. It almost looks painful for him.” Several comments claimed that this was definitely a way to improve his image as one comment read, “So… PR stunts are a little too late in the game.” One person also said, “he looks pissed lol , let me guess this is when the director says cut and good performance jd.” It’s safe to say that people weren’t impressed.
