Today, on X Angel Ureña, a spokesperson for former President of the United States Bill Clinton, issued a statement regarding Clinton’s appearances in the Epstein Files. The statement was addressed to the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. In it, Ureña asked on Clinton’s behalf for the Epstein Files related to Clinton to be released so that Clinton could clear his name of any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein, a financier who was also a convicted sex offender and child trafficker.
The Epstein Files have garnered a lot of attention in the last few months. Public concern is high regarding who was potentially involved in Epstein’s various crimes against women and children. However, definitive answers have been scarce. With a recent release of highly redacted photos and papers, several of which feature Clinton, the furor surrounding them has only increased.
Release the files
Jeffrey Epstein was known to rub shoulders with political figures like Trump and Clinton. Given that they were documented to be good friends, public concern has risen dramatically recently. This is because concerning images have been released by the Department of Justice. In one, Clinton appears to be in a hot tub with a young woman whose face has been redacted. He also appears in images with Epstein’s convicted ex-girlfriend and partner-in-crime, Ghislaine Maxwell. However, the former president continues to deny any wrongdoing.
This call by Clinton to release additional files is one of many aimed at the DOJ for their censorship of the Epstein files. In the statement, Ureña state that “we need no such protection.”
The hashtag #TrumpEpsteinCoverup is currently trending on X. “The fact that people need a dead man’s files to believe a thousand living women tells you everything about whose voices they value,” wrote one X user. “You can’t hide it anymore,” another wrote. The Department of Justice has said that other releases are upcoming, but no clear date has been given.
It is clear that the American people are dissatisfied with the implication of a government coverup. The involvement of a former – or current – U.S. President with someone like Epstein isn’t great either. Hopefully, Clinton’s call for a release of the files will do what he clearly hopes for – that is, the help he needs to clear his name.
