It’s not surprising that delivery drivers often get into arguments with people while they are doing their job. Sometimes, the drivers might be in the wrong, but that wasn’t the case in what took place in Texas.
A short video showed how a Texas judge, named Pat Deen, was in the midst of an argument with a female Amazon driver. In the video, he was seen standing in front of the driver and asking her disrespectfully, “Are you an idiot?” From their conversation, it was clear that the dispute was about a traffic issue. He claimed that the driver stopped right behind him, but she denied that. She and another woman with her kept repeating that they hadn’t even parked yet, so his claim wasn’t possible. Despite his aggressive attitude, the driver remained respectful and called him “sir.”
Rather than solving the matter peacefully, the Texas judge started threatening the driver that he would get her fired. What happened next wasn’t clear in the video, but the driver’s companion made a serious accusation. She claimed that the judge and a man who was with him spat at both of them. “This is nasty. You are disrespectful,” she told him. “We watched you spit,” she continued. He then threatened to call someone, presumably the police, and both the driver and her companion encouraged him to do so. Since the video was posted by a TikTok user, he said after the clip ended that he contacted the judge’s office but didn’t receive a response yet. Threatening to get someone fired is definitely not nice.
People Reacting to the Video of the Unhinged Texas Judge
Despite the video being short, a lot of people sided with the Amazon driver and believed that the Texas judge spat at her. Since he holds a lot of authority due to his position, one person wrote, “the fatigue is real. He thinks he controls everything.” Another person said, “Judges shouldn’t be so disrespectful to the people in their community that they demand respect them.” Someone else added, “These are the egos of the people we trust with the most precious decisions in our society…” One TikTok user also believed the spitting part as they wrote, “When someone is spit on that is not ok (and is assault) …. Additionally, it’s especially bad if he is supposed to be the one upholding the law – as a judge – but out in public spitting on others is crazy work ….”
Since the Amazon driver is a Black woman, several people were convinced that the Texas judge and the man who was with him were being racist. This is why one person wrote, “white man trying to intimidate this small black lady you can tell, she’s very young this is the stuff Black people have to deal with in America is so disheartening.” Another person said, “Judge Pat Deen needs to be disbarred and held accountable. [Expletive] racist. The other guy questioned the worker’s gender.” Others commented that this was an assualt as someone else wrote, “She should press charges. That’s assault.” His behavior wasn’t exactly nice.
